About Us
The Westnell Nursery Society was set up in 1986 and registered as a charity to 'advance the education of children below school age in Lima, Peru, by providing safe and stimulating group play and other learning activities'. Westnell comprises two partner organisations, Westnell UK, which is registered as a charity in the UK, and the Sociedad Infantil Westnell, a registered charity in Peru, run by nursery staff and community members. The Peruvian charity runs the nursery, organises events and seminars for parents and manages staff. The UK organisation, through its committee of trustees, exists to further the objectives of the Peruvian society by providing funds and support. It monitors the use of funds raised in the UK through regular reporting by the Peruvian partners and ensures that such funds are used effectively in achieving the objectives of the charity. It communicates with UK members through regular newsletters and other mailings.
